Berkdrums Haven’t heard of Greig’s ‘Moss Covered Technology’ before, and I’m so glad this album appeared on my radar! An amalgamation of so many different elements I picked up from all kinds of ambient substyles.. I hear influences from electronic musicartists like Celer, Sven Laux, and Helios, to name few.. but also very different influences, like the short commuting-ambienttracks from someone like Ken Elkinson. Wait.., or do I hear some warm hazy sounds in the likes of Hotel Neon, Marconi Union? The best thing you can do is sit back and let this album do its marvelous work... With this artwork in your mind, just go hiking through this incredible landscape.. the music, fieldrecordings and crackling effects will guide you, and the layers of sounds are like the different shapes of clouds drifting by.. This album tells a beautiful story if you just let it wash over you.. afterwards you’ll feel as if you just got back from a beautiful walk in the open fields... wow!

Hibernate are pleased to announce our latest release, Southern Points, from Greig Baird’s Moss Covered Technology project. Having previously released on Eilean and Fluid Audio, Baird’s latest offering brings us a continuation of his organic atmospherics.

Created during a very introspective period of his life, Southern Points is an intensely personal album, focusing on family and home life. Processed field recordings are mixed with an array of effects pedals and a Prophet 12 to create evocative textures and melodies.

Imagery is also very important to the album with scenery experienced during a day out and photos playing a huge part in inspiring the writing and creation of the pieces. The cover image was taken close to Seatown, Dorset, one of the Southern Points referenced in the title.
